Community Film Screening - April 18th, 2018
We filled the Mayfair Theatre with community members to screen the film, Indian Horse. We wanted to create a safe space with mental health supports, elders and medicines available due to the films content. We have close to 200 people show up.
This day conference was focused on creating dialogue for Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth to share and learn how to spread lateral kindness and create loving and safer spaces within their personal lives and communities. Our hope was to create a safer space where youth could reflect, network, share best practices, create new positive relationships and continue healing themselves and their communities. The conference was co-hosted by youth from the 4Rs Youth Movement and Assembly of Seven Generations with funding provided by the Government of Canada's Canada150 Fund, and Unifor's Social Justice Fund. It was one of eleven collaborative initiatives happening across Turtle Island, brought to life by the 4RsYouth Movement (Respect, Reciprocity, Reconciliation and Relevance) National Learning Community and the 4Rs' Possible Canadas project. Each gathering aimed to host conversations that matter, between Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth, as we move toward truth, reconcile our histories, and imagine possible futures based in equity and social justice for Indigenous peoples. |

Kitchi Blanket Exercise & Facilitator Gathering

The Kitchi Blanket Exercise on June 2nd, 2017 was a great success, we had a huge crowd, almost 1,000 participants. Chi Miigwech to everyone who came out.
Mass Blanket Exercises
During the Fall of 2014, ReachUp!North Interns were working on a Social Impact Project. After doing orientation that included the KAIROS Blanket Exercise, one of our Interns, Frazer Whiteduck, had the idea to have a mass Blanket Exercise on Parliament HIll for the public and politicians to see. We reached out to KAIROS to collaborate in this Social Impact Project and during the release of the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's (TRC) final report, in June 2015, the first Mass Blanket Exercise was held on Parliament Hill. Over 300 folks came out to experience the Mass Blanket Exercise.
In 2016, Blanket Exercise facilitators hosted Mass Blanket Exercises across the country from Charlottetown, PEI to Whitehorse, Yukon, on legislative buildings, with community input and many lead by Indigenous youth from A7G networks.
